2024 P.C.H.A.
January Meeting

Thursday, January 18, 2024
Boston Tavern - Middleboro

Thursday, January 18th kicked off our first meeting of the year with our new President, Victor Diniak, Director of Hanover DPW as one of our speakers for the day.

Along with wishes of a healthy and prosperous new year to all, he expressed his hopes of elevating the Association and gaining a bit more traction and involvement from it's members, specifically the decision makers among the municipalities.

By extending invitations to the directors and superintendents to speak at our meetings, we can become more familiar with our neighbors, their needs and also share knowledge and resources among the many common problems we all face within our communities.

Additionally, the continued attendance of our vendors also plays an important part in keeping our Association alive and thriving. Not only do they already provide many of us with products or a service, their generous donations to our monthly raffles help contribute to our annual scholarship program.

Safety on the South Shore

Kevin Cafferty, Director of Public Works in Scituate, also presented at this month's meeting and delighted us  with stories of their busy summer season along with a brief history of the seaside town. Despite being along the sea, the Town has faced a variety of water issues over the years but continues to rise up to the needs of their residents.

Within the DPW infrastructure, safety is a common concern among the various divisions as with any municipality. Kevin along with his Highway Supervisor, Mike Breen, allowed us a peek into some of their newest safety equipment - various upgraded helmets have been provided to the personnel to better improve safety as well as communication while on the job, away from main building or high above a tree line.
